All new students can enroll in our beginner classes. With this program, you will learn 36 core techniques of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in a fun, safe, and cooperative environment. In each one-hour lesson, one standing and one ground self-defense technique is covered, which is further subdivided into simplified drills to ease the learning process. No previous experience is required to start the program and participate in any class, and safety is our number one concern, so competitive sparring is not permitted. If you successfully complete the adult beginner BJJ program, you will qualify for advancement into the advanced program.
Jiu-jitsu is composed of over 600 techniques, but studies of real fights have shown that 36 techniques have been used more often and with greater success than all the other techniques combined. Our adult beginner course is entirely dedicated to the mastery of these 36 essential techniques. No previous experience is required to begin this course. Every class is taught in a cooperative environment, and our instructors are committed to ensuring that every new student has an enjoyable, informative experience regardless of their age, gender, or athletic ability.
The 36 Core techniques are divided into 23 one-hour lessons as shown below. Each class focuses on one standing and one ground fighting technique. All 23 classes can be completed in any order.
Most BJJ schools want you to sign up after you try just one class. But we prefer that you train for two weeks to make sure it's a good fit for both sides. We'll give you a free uniform and track your progress through the curriculum just like any other student. If you love the classes, you can sign up for our program after the two week trial. If it doesn't work out for any reason, simply return the gi (so we don't waste a brand-new uniform), and you won't be charged for anything. If you join the program, you'll have unlimited access to attend any of our beginner classes, and you'll be well on your way to effective self-defense.
Unlike traditional martial arts that emphasize flashy, acrobatic kicks and strikes, jiu-jitsu is a practical martial art that focuses on grappling and ground fighting. Studies have shown that 90% of all real fights go to the ground. Jiu-jitsu is designed to empower the weak against the strong, and there are no physical prerequisites to get started. Literally ANYONE can learn jiu-jitsu!
No problem! Our adult jiu-jitsu beginner program is specifically designed for first-time practitioners.
